C4 MB001 fins
The MB is the latest addition to C4's high-end tradittional fins with carbon fiber blades. The MB's are the company's best interpretation of the concept and design. The MB blades come in two versions. MB001 is with standard 80cm blade, while the MB002 is longer - 90 cm. Both versions are intended to be mounted on the new C4 250 and H.Dessault 350 footpockets offering reduced weight, maximum blade agility and ease of assembly. The carbon blades all feature a matte surface finish.
The performance improvement of the new MB blades is mainly due the new “Reverse Parabolic” lamination. This new process allows the blade to be most flexible closer to the footpocket to bring out most benefit from the nervless 250 footpocket. This is a completely different concept than the tradittional Double Parabolic lamination intended for tradittional footpockets where the blade is made more flexible towards the tip. As a result, the mechanical properties of the blade are changed significantly. The surface that generates the thrust is in fact greater than the surface that generates hydrodynamic resistance, thus producing greater elastic deformations and greater propulsion. The fin becomes a natural extension of the leg and not just a simple mechanical appendice on which to exert force. Now it is possible to use stiffer blades with greater performance, by applying the same effort normally used with lighter blades.
Taking advantage of this feature, C4 raised the relative performance scale by adding a “+” to the hardnesses. This is because now MB 25+ is stiff and pushes as much as a standard 30 while weighing in the water like a the regular 25. Starts at the bottom, acceleration and speeds are now higher.
The MB fins feature rounded section water rails that improve water containment on the blade and reduce water vortexes on the outer sides. The MB feature a greater thrust surface and, for this reason, the water rails are integral, from the foot pocket to the tip of the blades.
All these improvements are made possible only by the combination with the new C4 250 and H.Dessault 350 footpockets
MB fins are named after their creator: Marco Bonfanti, who wanted to personally sign his new fin project featuring the “Reverse Parabolic” curved blades.
